Abstract:
Eletrical Resistivity profilnig was conduected around ogbdu-Aba to locate subpected subsurface cavities of archacological interest.the methods employed was the wenner electrode system and the tripotential tecnique, which involved measuring 3 resistances(at a station)corresonding to three different electrode arrangments:cppc, ccpp and cpcp. the resistances were designated as R`,R$ and R~and the calculated apparent resistivities denoted as @d , eb and elrespectively ,
Plots of @N and eSagainst midpoints were made For
everytraverse , while thirdplot ; the percentage residual resistivity ( pd- @ - e* x -11 00 against midpoints was also ecx
made for each traverse . The diagrams were studied and after
due considerations , eight anomalous, zones were delineated .
Eased on available , relevant geological and archaeological
information , the anomalies were attributed to the possible
presence of hollow cavities ( anci entburialsites ) in the
subsurface . The sizes and depths of burial of the identified
cavities ranged from 1.5m t o 6m and 0.55 to 1.5m respectively .
