Abstract:
There are three major concepts of balancing in incomplete block designs viz
variance balancing, pairwise balancing and efficiency balancing. The necessary and
sufficient Conditions for a general class of connected designs to be balanced is derived.
It will be seen that for an incomplete block design with 1 treatments in b blocks of
unequal sizes to be balanced, the ineqnalily b>_ t should hold.
The expression for calculating efficiency balanced incomplete block designs is
shown.
