Abstract:
In 1966, N'i once regarded as black Africa's & stable nation,
went through a series of changes which threatened to tear it assunder.
It all began on January 15,1966 when certain Ibo officers in the N'i
Army rose against the Federal Government of Sir Ah- Tafawa
Balewa. They killed the Prime Minister and his Minister of Finance,
Chief F. S. Okotie-Eboh, the Premier of the then Narthero Region,
Sir Ahmadu Be110 and the Premier of the Western Region, Chief S. L.
Akintola. A number of leading, non-Ibo military officers were also
murdered in cold blood, some of than called out of their beds in the
early hwn, bg colleagues who had been their close friends up to the
previous day.
