Abstract:
Digitization is the conversion of analogy media to digital form. The original media or source material might be either in a Printed or in an image. First use or the term "digital library" in print was in a 1988 report to the Corporation for National Research Initiatives (Kahn and Cerf, 1988). Over time, the terminology has become relatively ubiquitous as digitization has now widely been recognized by different commercial interests and public bodies alike. The term is also somewhat diffuse but the critical point is that a digital library must have an online collection of information managed and made accessible to a community of users.
