Abstract:
This dissertation is focused on the Role of Corporate Social responsibility on Organization Sustainability with a special interest in two oil companies, Shell Petroleum Development company (SPDC) and the Nigerian Agip Oil company (NA0C), all operate in Isoko North as Isoko South local Government Areas of Delta State. Specifically, the study aimed to pursue the following objectives to: determine the level of involvement of the oil companies infrastructural development in their host communities, examine the effect of non-participants of corporate bodies in community's social demands on organizations sustainability; ascertain the extent of Government involvement in peaceful co-existence between the oil firms operate in Delta State and their host communities. The survey research design was adopted .for study The population of the study is 135321 and the sample size is 494 using Taro l'amaJ formula. The hypotheses ,formulated for the study were tested using Z-test, and Chi-square te. The stmu found that there is lower level of Oil Company involvement in the provision infrastructures for their host communities, non- participation of Oil Company in society demands has negative effects on organizational sustainability and the Government to a great extent is involved in peaceful co-existence between the oil firms operating in Delta State en their host communities. The study concludes that corporate bodies continuity, growth and eventual sustainability is largely dependent on how socially responsible the corporate body are to their Host communities and finally recommends that corporate bodies should adhere the standards, guidelines and principles propounded by the United Nations Global Compa ( UN DO, 2008.
