Abstract:
With the growth in the Nigerian economy and increased liberalization of trade has come a need for increased advertising and marketing of products and services so as to gain a larger market share. Apart from the media, trade fairs and exhibitions have become a means of achieving direct marketing and promotion_ Fairs have become a popular event in most states of the federation. There are exhibitions in many hotels and halls around the country. Tradeshows and grand product lunches are also a major feature in the annual programs of many companies in the country.
The project aims at providing a facility to house fair and exhibition activities in a properly designed architectural environment; one that deals especially with the problem of overcrowding and circulation at these complexes as can be found all over the world. The text is compilation of the research carried out to gather information and knowledge that will aid the selection and use of architectural solutions to the problems of the development of such a centre,
Proper access and circulation including motorized movement should be provided for the large numbers of people expected at the complex. The design and placement of exhibition spaces should be such that it enhances visitors' interest in exhibits, while allowing easy access for the servicing and supplies by exhibitors and maintenance staff The exhibition spaces should be interlaces with other entertainment areas to keep the visitors experience interesting and untiring. The study is concluded with a presentation of architectural solutions to the problems of the design a facility for fairs and exhibitions, based on the information and knowledge gathered from the research used in this compilation_
