The research is on problems and prospects of benchmarking in industries. A case study of Anambra Motor Manufacturing Company (Anammco) Enugu.The main objective of this study is to determine the problems and prospects of benchmarking in industries. The research methodology is descriptive, the study's approach is based on the research questions ,which influences the data generated and the descriptive analysis presented. The researcher analyses the data collected based on the response from the questionnaires distributed. The major findings of this study are as follows:1. The steps of benchmarking include:(a) Identify the area and benchmark criteria (b) Choose and recruit the comparison organization (s) or territory (ies).(c) Generate data about the comparator.(d) Systematically compare practices and performances UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA NSUKKA2. Benchmarking is relevant in the sense that it is an instrument for progress, it aid in facilitating the process of production and it helps organization to identify elements that can be adopted and adapted in their business content The conclusion drawn from this study is that benchmarking is recognized as effective instrument that helps to improve process effectiveness, product quality and service delivery. It also facilitates the process of production in industries. Based on the findings and conclusion, . the following recommendations were made:1. Organizations should adopt benchmarking so as to regulate operation of their business contents and production of goods.2. Organizations should adopt benchmarking because it enables them to compare their existing performance and approach to others and to identify elements that can be adopted and adapted. |
