Abstract:
Overtime, there has been increase in industrialization, female scholarship and rural to urban migration in Nigeria . As a result of this, more and more women are entering the formal sector labour force . The changing roles of women from a traditional setting to a modern one, have their effects and deffects on the performance of women's traditional domestic roles. Working women are expected to earn money outside the home on the one hand, and to carry out familial roles on the other. The question then is, how do they reconcile both roles? Are they not experiencing strain in carrying out th is dual role? Even without such role conflict, women who carry dual responsibility for the home and the office many become fatigued by the effort needed to fulfil both sets of role requirements. The study is therefore aimed at assessing the extent of this conflict using women working in banks as focus, and how they have coped so far. Recommendations on how to resolve the conflict situation are made
