Abstract:
The corporate image of the Nigeria Police Force has never been so doubted as is the case in contemporary times. Owing to its very crucial role in the society, the Nigeria Police has continually remained the most deliberated amongst all security setups in the Country. Although, most of the perpetrators have considered these talks as aspersions, the truth of the matter is obviously glaring, even to the nascent minds that corruption, pervasive infidelity, police brutality, ineptitude, poor interpersonal relationship and indiscipline have collectively configured a trademark for the organisation. Though, herculean in thoughts, there are still workable solutions to the problems. The essence of the Police College is to fully train trainees with the required skills and knowledge to maintain public order, fight social malaise and uphold the law. The workforce and resources are insufficient and therefore, still being hard pressured beyond their limits. The aim of providing more training facilities and supplying them with state-of-the-art equipment is to be able to cater for the teeming population of the country. Its choice of location will also help in; the development of the Niger-Delta region, provision of employment opportunity, reduction of regional violence, aiding amnesty and play a major role in national development and nation building. Looking at its good sides, the NPF also participate in peacekeeping and the United Nation (UN) has always appreciated their role in war-torn countries and predicament areas around the world. Nothing short of proper training is required for such a highly commended paramilitary group. The approach to solving this setback is numerous but this report looks at the design approach towards making this an actuality.
