Abstract:
This research redirects management attention towards a change ill approach to distribution and management in general. This work is hoped to help in placing P & G Nig. Ltd and other manufacturing and marketing industries interested in efficiency and effectiveness of their distribution polices in a right . footing and put them in a more vantage position over competition. It will help the firm to determine the appropriate distribution strategies to adopt, and also structure or restructure its distribution system by
paying attention to the various variables. To the customers they will also benefit from this efficient and effective distribution, in that, P<-~G products will be made readily available to them and all the right value for money. To the academic world, this study is expected to increase the store of knowledge; it will
also inspire further researches into physical distribution of product by producers of consumer goods in Nigeria at large. The importance of an effective distribution channel on the profitability of a manufacturing company cannot be over emphasized. There are many channels of distribution available for a company to market its products. This range from direct delivery to internet sales. No particular method is part ic1arly the best but should depend on the type of product, the category of consumers, the capacity of the company etc.
