Abstract:
This study investigated the incidence of strikes in Nigeria causes and Implications: A study of selected Civil Service Units in Enugu State. In the Contemporary times the incessant cessation of work by workers in Nigerian, Organizations has become a recurring decimal which to a large extent had allocated the overall economic development of the nation. It has also affected the social life of most Nigerians and consequently, lowered the standards of living of most Nigerians especially, the civil servants. The phenomenon (i.e. strike) has become more pronounced especially in Enugu State Civil Service, and ' what is more disturbing to most rational-reasoning citizens of this country is - the major causes of the incessant cessation of work by the state civil service, and, above all, whether those at the helm of affairs realize the implications which the phenomenon has on the overall development of this great nation. To carry out this study, both primary and secondary data were made use of Questionnaire were administered to the respondents form the selected civil service unit under study. Data collected from the establishment under study were analyzed with tables and simple percentages. Several findings were made in the course of the study, prominent among which is that most of the respondents admitted that strike actions by workers has negative.
