Abstract:
In the book "principle of Hotel Design", the Architect Journal propounds that " the purpose of any hotel is to satisfy the particular needs of a selected client group at a suitable price structure", this takes into account the consideration of the diverse changes and incorporation it has undergone in service, scope, scale, clientele and management. The hotel is really a small city. Thus, it is a trade outlet with potentials of improving the social-economic situation if well planned. In this regard, the project proposes a Hotel complex for Emene, Enugu State, purposely to encourage economic development of the state. The hotel shall be a three-star hotel of international standard providing about 200-250 bedrooms, and shall be capable for national and international guests, providing them of their respective feeding and lodging requirements. This thesis aims at finding the relevant problems expected in such a design and to explore solution which will alleviate its planning and design. Thus, the introduction outlines the motivation, project aims, and architectural problem scope of project and research methodology. The main body of the thesis has seven chapters where the following are discussed in detail; Hotel Industry, Case studies (Design Criteria), Principles of Hotel Design, Building Services, The Project Town, and Design Influences. Having done this, a detailed analysis of the project site is carried out. An in-depth of study was made to ensure the genuineness of the information provided. The project shall be a tropical hotel design, ventilating and lighting every room naturally and an energy efficient work not relying on power frequently.
