Abstract:
Road travelling In Nigeria, without any reasonable doubt, is the most patronized mode of travelling in the country .Whether it is as a result of its affordability or availability, the fact still remains that no other mode of travelling has enjoyed more patronage. But be this as it may, it is necessary not to allow this fact bring us to an erroneous conclusion that this mode of travelling enjoys the much patronage as a result of its being leisurable. A long distance travel by road in Nigeria would make one appreciate the fact that this experience is rather endured than enjoyed. A look at the face of one who just embarked on a long distance travel by road here in this country shows stress, fatigue, and boredom. Factors which contribute to this include the nature of the road, the nature of the vehicle, and the nature of the rest and refreshment during the course of the Journey. This project is aimed at looking into the nature of rest and refreshment during long distance travels in Nigeria and putting forward a proposal to rescue the situation. The focus is limited to the travellers between the south east and south west geopolitical zones. This proposal is made in form of a traveller’s rest stop. In this project report, care would be taken to cornprehensively elaborate on the concept of this proposed travellers' rest stop. In order to do this, the aid of photographs and sketches with other diagrams will be employed.
