Abstract:
This research looks into cultural tourism as a way of developing rural areas with Ohafia and Ugwunagbo as study area. The work has five chapters with chapter one serving as the introduction as well as the statement of problem, research objective, research question, method of research, scope of study, significance of study, limitation of study and clarification of terms. Chapter two is all about theoretical framework which include theory that can be used for the conceptual analysis of the work as well as it application to the topic. It also contains empirical review of literatures. Chapter three focus on the background information of the study area which features the study area’s geographical location, climate and vegetation, historical background, socio-political organization, socio-economic activities and socio-cultural activities. Chapter four evaluates the main tourism potentialities in the study area (Ohafia and Ugwunagbo) and as well discussion of the data presented from the field work. It also contains the analysis of the data using SWOT analysis tool and finally chapter five summarizes the research work and makes recommendations.
