Mirror reflects different individual and communal experiences. This reflection captures both negative and positive aspects of social, political and cultural vibes that either help in shaping and reshaping the society, or in destabilizing and disintegrating the cultural structure of the society. The divergences and convergences of beliefs, culture, politics, religious and social ideals are therefore captured through different behaviour exhibited by individuals. The artist therefore relies on the societal reflections as a window into what the society imports and gives out at the same time. This project report, mirror symmetry is conceptually explored through the appropriation of varied art media in order to make commentaries on how family, communal and social influences determine the type of value judgment a society holds. Works produced followed studio processes where sketching, cutting, slicing, tying and binding were used to produce three dimensional art forms (both in relief and in the round) that have both conceptual and formalistic aesthetics |
