The research problems and questions in the matter include:
The reasons for the negative public perception and incessant criticisms of the parastatals. The reason for fear and uncertainty in the minds of those occupying sensitive positions like the chief executive of these parastatals. This work also studied the reasons for the frequent management succession.
The objectives were to ascertain the impact or this frequent management succession on the Corporate image of these organizations and the effects of the frequent management succession on the overall performance and job satisfaction of the chief executives of the parastatals.
The study methodology includes oral interview questionnaire, publications of the various parastatals studied books and journals that treated this subjects.
Trend and Williams model of sample size was used to determine the optimum sample size. After careful analysis of the data, the following findings amongst others were revealed:
1) That there is correlation between frequent management succession and the negative corporate image of the parastatals in Nigeria.
2) That slow and evolutionary management succession process impacts more positively on the corporate image of our parastatals then frequent management succession.
3) That frequent management succession impacts negatively on the overall performance of the chief executives of our parastatals etc.
All these culminated in our proferring some vital recommendations in the final report emphasizing that conscious effort should be made to revamp the unwholesome corporate image of our Parastatals. Beside the government should drop the idea of using appointments of chief executives to compensate campaign managers and other party stalwarts. Moreso, the Government should make the parastatals more viable and self sustaining.
