Abstract:
This research work is on the sourcing of raw material inputs for Small Scale Industries. It brings to light what steps to take and, how a small scale industry can locate good sources of raw material inputs. It also highlights what the Small Scale Industries should do to maintain such sources and even develop some of them for better performance. Several related literatures have been reviewed. Data used were collected through numerous sources, while the relevant hypothesis, were statistically tested. Following the findings made, a number of recommendations were made and conclusions drawn there from. Some high points of the findings include the discovery that Small Scale Industries do not make adequate use of documentation in their sourcing functions. This work equally reveals that small scale industries favour multi-sourcing strategy as opposed to single sourcing strategy. It can also be confirmed from this work that small scale industries take various steps to motivate their sources of raw material supply. In conclusion, this work is of the opinion that small scale industries are yet to fully exploit the potentials available locally in raw material sourcing.
