Abstract:
This study examined the impact of the World Bank financing on the performance of the Anambra State Agricultural Development Projects on food production and distribution. Through the study conducted by the researcher, it was found out that the funds disbursed to carry on the project activities were being used appropriately for the purpose of constructing the relevant amenities that would help to boost food production in the State. For the benefit of our readers, this research work has been divided into five chapters. Chapter One contains the introduction which is followed by the objectives of the study which directs our mind to a critical analysis of why the World Bank assistance to Agricultural Development Projects in Anambra State. This is followed by the significance of the study, the scope of study, the limitation of the study, the research questions and the research hypothesis. Chapter two of the research work consists of the historical background of the project topic in question, whereby the related literatures were reviewed by the use of text books, published and unpublished journals The third chapter consists of the research methodology, pilot study, sampling technique whereby the stratified random samplings method was used. This is followed by technique s for analysing data. In this regard, the following statistics were used. They are - (a) the correlation analysis (b) the Chi-square (X2) test and (c) the Achievement Index model Chapter four presented and analysed the data. This was achieved by the use of questionnaires and oral interviews conducted by the researcher. In the same chapter, the research hypotheses were tested. The followings results were obtained:- 1. There is a significant relationship between fund disbursement and project activities among the ADP and the rural farmers in Anambra State. In other words, funds were used mainly for the purposes for which they were allocated; 2. that a good number of feeder roads leading to the project sites have been constructed and owing to this, the income of the rural farmers have tremendously increased and their living conditions have also increased; 3. the new technologies in agriculture as were introduced in the state by the ADP had boosted food production and distribution in Anambra State. Also, the provision of portable water supply for the good health ef the rural dwellers and for irrigation purposes have improved the living standards of the rural farmers and have also improved agricultural production.
