Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of training and development on workers performance in Unilever Plc Okpara Avenue, Enugu.
Employee needs updating as new technique development. The process of improving a worker’s knowledge and capabilities in order to increase the competence of the organisation management team is known as workers development. And training is the development in an individual of those knowledge/skills and attitude, which arc directly related to his job. The objective of employee development is to facilitate the achievement of organisational goals. However, training and development need to be provided for the workers, so as to reach their full potentials.
To guide the study, research questions were formulated. A review o literature was done to expose the researcher to what was already been done to ensure sound bases for reviewing books and journals etc.
A structured questionnaire was developed and administered by the researcher to 60 respondents of which 55 were returned and 5 missing. Percentages were used to analyse data from the research questions.
Findings were made, which the study revealed that job performance in Unilever Plc requires training and manpower development but were ineffective due to lack of a conceptual framework on what constitute an acceptable technique or programs for effective training and development on performance.
The study also revealed that training and development is very important in their o organization, that when workers are properly trained and developed, their Performance is important to a great deal.
Also discussions of findings, recommendations, conclusion and suggestions for further studies were highlighted in the study.
