Abstract:
This study investigated the students personnel administrative strategies and management of violent behaviour of secondary school students in Nsukka Education Zone. Four research questions and four null hypotheses were formulated respectively to guide the study. The hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. This study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The population of 1,178 (59 principals and 1,119 teachers) from the fifty nine (59) secondary schools in Nsukka Education Zone was used for the study. Multi-stage (simple random and proportionate stratified) sampling technique was adopted and a sample size of 300 respondents (30 principals and 270 teachers) in Nsukka Education Zone was used for the study. A questionnaire titled: students personnel administrative strategies and management of Violent Behaviour of Secondary School Students in Nsukka Education Zone (SPASMVBSSS) was used for data collection. Cronbach Alpha was used to determine the internal consistency of the questionnaire items and reliability coefficients of 0.67, 0.70, 0.78, 0.63 for clusters A, B, C and D respectively were obtained. The research questions were answered using mean and standard deviation, while t-test was used to test the hypotheses. The results of the study revealed that, mentoring, counselling, conflict resolution and parental outreach facilitates to a great extent in managing violent behaviours of secondary school students in Nsukka Education Zone. It was also found that, there is no significant difference in the mean rating of principals and teachers on the extent mentoring, counselling, conflict resolution and parental outreach facilitates in managing violent behaviours of secondary school students in Nsukka Education Zone. Based on the findings, it is recommended that, government at all level should ensure that, secondary school principals and teachers always resort to the above innovative strategies that facilitates to a high extent in managing violent behaviours of secondary school students in Nsukka Education Zone.
